Petromax Enterprise recently inaugurated its new showroom along C-5 in Libis, Quezon City.
The company is the current Philippine importer of Italian marques Alfa Romeo and Abarth, the high-performance division of Fiat. It started operations in 2017.
And when you step inside its pristine service bay, there are iconic models being repaired like the Alfa Romeo Spider and the Alfa Romeo GTV.
In an exclusive interview with AutoFun Philippines, Petromax president Allen Ong said the company can provide full aftersales support for owners of older Alfa Romeos. This includes importing parts directly from Alfa Romeo in Italy.
“‘Pag wala na sa [If the parts are no longer available in the] factory, either we construct the parts on our own or we get from an aftermarket supplier,” he said.
Ong also said the company has brought in the latest diagnostic equipment to service newer models that it has already sold, such as the 500 Abarth, 4C sports car, Giulia sports sedan and Stelvio crossover.
“Sa mga [For the] new cars, you have to have the original diagnostic equipment for Alfa, for Abarth to service these cars nang tama [in the right way],” he said.
“So that’s the reason why we opted din na [also] to import, to open up this showroom, kasi [because] we’re confident na [that] we can service the cars,” Ong added.
Ong also belied stereotypes that modern Italian cars are temperamental and unreliable.
“Right now, the cars are very, very, very reliable,” he said. “‘Yung manufacturing process ngayon ng Stellantis is top-notch. ‘Yung quality ngayon, maraming quality control na ginagawa ngayon to make it on par or better pa when it comes to reliability.”

Stellantis is the multinational corporation that emerged following the merger of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and the French PSA Group. It is currently the fourth-largest car company in the world in terms of sales.
The company’s vast brand portfolio includes Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroen, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Mopar, Opel, Peugeot, RAM and Vauxhall.
Ong added that people who buy brand-new Alfa Romeo or Abarth models from Petromax will get full aftersales support.
“To the clients, I would want to say to them na [that] do not be afraid to try out these brands, lalo na Alfa Romeo and Abarth, kasi [because] they’re not going to have a headache,” he said.
Do you think Petromax’s models are viable alternatives to Mercedes-Benz AMG and BMW M cars?
